The Diamond Gala Nets $138,000

The 2012 Diamond Gala to benefit CMC-NorthEast and to celebrate the medical center’s 75th anniversary was held on Saturday, May 12th! Nearly 700 Foundation friends attended the 18th annual event at Embassy Suites and Concord Convention Center.  Led by event Co-Chairs Dean Wike and Anna Hunt, the evening netted $138,000 to support NorthEast Foundation’s $3.2 million Tucker Hospice House Expansion Campaign. Wike and Hunt led a group of nearly 50 volunteers to make sure the event was a huge and profitable success.

Party-goers were able to take photos with antique cars, walk through the “Hall of History” which featured medical center photos throughout the decades, and watch a video commemorating the medical center’s 75 years of providing healthcare to this community.

Throughout the evening guests were encouraged to take part in a silent auction where original pieces of artwork, jewelry, and unique treasures were available for bidding. For the 16th year, Cabarrus Emergency Medicine Associates, PA generously donated a $7,000 travel voucher to be raffled; the lucky winner was Juddie Craven of Concord. But Juddie was not the only winner of the night. Auctioneer Allen Craven energized the audience as they playfully battled one another to win eighteen live auction items that spanned from golf trips to a Rolex watch to mountain and beach vacations – even a 12-person catamaran cruise around the Caribbean!

Upon the conclusion of the dinner and auctions, guests danced the night away to the pulse-pounding music of the Atlanta band, We Got the Beat.
