Karen Goforth Focused on a Cure Fund
In 2018, Karen Goforth and the NorthEast Foundation established the Karen Goforth Focused on a Cure Fund to benefit the Breast Health Center at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
After almost 10 years, Focused on a Cure, an Irresistible Portraits Foundation, made the decision to dissolve. Focused on a Cure was known for their traveling display, also known as the Survivor Exhibit. This Exhibit was used to raise awareness and provide hope for people fighting breast cancer. Each survivor metal told the story of a breast cancer journey through words and images. All monies raised by Focused on a Cure were donated back to the community through the Focused on a Cure grant process. Focused on a Cure made an unbelievable impact in our community, by donating over $335,000 locally to provide breast health screenings.
The NorthEast Foundation is honored to have this new Fund. The Karen Goforth Focused on a Cure Fund has been set up as a way to continue the legacy of the amazing work Focused on a Cure did in our community to support early detection of breast cancer when the disease is easier to treat.
All funds donated to the Karen Goforth Focused on a Cure Fund at NorthEast Foundation will be utilized to provide mammogram services to underserved patients in our community. It is our hope to endow the Karen Goforth Focused on a Cure Fund by allowing our community to generate philanthropic support, so that the legacy will continue in perpetuity.
